feature Moving Bangladesh forward together
Chevron Bangladesh organized a stakeholder event on June 5 to bid farewell to its outgoing President Kevin Lyon and welcome incoming President Neil Menzies. Key stakeholders, including government officials and Chevron’s business & social investment partners, were in attendance. The State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Nasrul Hamid MP; Secretary of Energy & Mineral Resource Division (EMRD), Mr. Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Muneem; Chairman of Petrobangla, Mr. Abul Mansur Md. Faizullah, and United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ms. Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat were Chief and Special Guests for the occasion.
Chevron Bangladesh team members were also well represented. Policy Government & Public Affairs (PGPA) Director, Mr. Ismail H. Chowdhury presided over the proceedings, delivering both welcome and concluding remarks.
The occasion gave the Chevron team the opportunity to interact with its key stakeholders, including engaging with the EMRD Secretary, Mr. Muneem, who is new to his post, having started the role in early-May. The EMRD Secretary plays a key role within the Government relating to Chevron’s operations in Bangladesh.
Commenting on his new assignment, Neil Menzies said, “I have come on board at an exciting time for Bangladesh and its energy sector, with our strong business driven by our talented Bangladeshi workforce, and their commitment to world-class performance. I look forward to building on Kevin’s strong and collaborative relationship with Petrobangla, the Government of Bangladesh and business stakeholders, so we can continue to work together to power Bangladesh’s growth for years to come.”
In his address as Chief Guest, the State Minister acknowledged the pivotal role played by leading energy companies like Chevron in ensuring the country’s energy security and driving economic growth. He went on to express his appreciation for Chevron’s decision to remain in Bangladesh and its renewed commitment to operate in the country’s energy sector. The Minister appreciated Chevron’s values as demonstrated through its Corporate Responsibility initiatives and urged Petrobangla and other operators in the country to consider investing in such programs that foster community development. Above all, a key message that all the speakers emphasized was Chevron’s significant contribution to Bangladesh’s economic growth as a valued partner in the nation’s energy landscape.
